Who are we?
We are a group of greater Wellington region based whānau (ngā hau e whā) who are passionate about creating ...healthy whānau through the medium of triathlon and endurance sport. We live across the rohe which spans from Otaki, Kāpiti, Porirua, Wellington, Lower and Upper Hutt and Wainuiomata.
Our purpose is to support whānau on their journey towards Ironmāori and other triathlon and endurance events. We will do this by connecting whānau with others on the same journey through the Tripōneke website, facebook page, email distribution list, monthly hui and group training sessions.
The key values that bring us together and motivate us to contribute and be part of a collective approach to triathlon and endurance sport are whanaungatanga and manaakitanga.
• Whanaungatanga means that while we enjoy the challenge of competing and completing individual events, we love that this experience is rooted in a collective ethic whereby we awhi, support, mentor, plan, train and compete alongside our
friends and whānau for life. It also means that we must support and be positive role-models for our tamariki/mokopuna to do the same.
• Manaakitanga means that we respect, support and encourage all whānau from beginners to elite to be part of a collective approach to triathlon and endurance sport. This also means we have an open door policy and welcome all whānau,
Māori and non-Māori into our whānau.
Our primary goal is to create healthy whānau through the medium of triathlon and endurance sport. To achieve this we want to get more whānau involved in triathlon and endurance events for life. We are not here to run our own events, rather we want to provide a supportive entry point into the sport and hook more whānau into a range of triathlon and endurance training groups, sessions and events
